Prayers:
Please Father God prepare our hearts for Haiti. Prepare us for what we're about to see and experience. I pray that through this trip our hearts will be forever changed. More importantly, I pray that we will be present, and offer our love and service in a way that God has called us to show God's love to these children. I pray that God will protect our group, keep us bonded and keep our spirits strong.
Furthermore, I pray that I will learn to seek God's guidance in everything I do. I pray that I will hunger for him constantly, and never cease to worship Him in all that I do. I pray for God's favor in my life and pray that I will be able to use that favor to serve the people of His kingdom. I am proclaiming that my soul longs for Jesus Christ. I pray that I will become one of those people who is so in tune with God's voice that they are able to fight the distractions of the world, and follow God where He is leading. How do I become the kind of person who is courageous enough to go, when God says go? I want to have that the kind of discipline.
Dear God, I ask of you to show me the answers to my prayers in several ways, so I can see the hand of God working in those dreams. Please show me through scripture, through friends, and mentors. I ask all these things in your precious name, Amen.
Counting my blessings:
I'm thankful that God knows us better than we know ourselves. I'm thankful that none of this life has to be done alone because we are children of Jesus Christ. I'm thankful for His forgiving, everlasting power and grace that sustains my life, every second of every day. I'm thankful that through the redeeming sacrifice of Jesus Christ that I am forgiven and I don't have to carry the burden of any sins with me. Because of His sacrifice, I am protected, saved, delivered and I want others to know what the gift of eternal life looks like as well.
Lessons in faith:
I believe that God is all I need in this world. The world can make even the luckiest person feel hopeless, but nothing can overcome the redeeming power of Jesus Christ. Nothing is impossible through Christ, and this is what I know.
Relying on God has to begin all over again every day as if nothing had yet been done. ~ C.S. Lewis
